Jeffrey James Sutherland All My Near Mrs. Rockin' country/americana - tightly written stories ranging from haunting to rambunctious with infectious melodies, memorable lyrics and evocative musical accompaniment.
Jeffrey James Sutherland Singer, songwriter, story-teller…waiter, stand-up comedian… bohemian poet…Renaissance man… He’s been called all of these things…and then some. He taught himself how to play guitar by studying the chord charts in his Uncle Dave’s songbooks, practicing on Uncle Dave’s guitar while Uncle Dave was at work (Uncle Dave was PISSED!). It was during that time he wrote his first song…a heartbreaking little number about ‘love gone wrong’… He was eight years old… Since moving to Nashville in 2003, JJS continues to write, record and perform material his 'Rock' friends describe as ‘country’ while his Country friends tell him “…that ain’t country...” His approach is simple…he calls it ‘three chords and a cloud of dust’. While he’s not out to reinvent the wheel…he’s not willing to merely re-cycle it either. Combining country music’s storytelling and melodies with the passion, power, energy and enthusiasm of ‘classic rock‘n’roll’, JJS has created an exciting sound that is distinctively American. 2007 has yielded his new cd, All My Near Mrs., the follow-up to 2006’s All In and 2005’s Tanglewood Drive. Written and recorded in Nashville, all three contain wry, bittersweet and some times hilarious (10 years on the road as a Stand-up Comic will ‘skew your view’) examinations of his experiences since moving to Music City. Loaded with ‘…more hooks than a tackle box…’ these albums deliver. Check it out for yourself.
